7: Summary
In this module we examined the role of LMI across the range of client needs using the Employability Dimensions framework. LMI on its own may be interesting, but it’s impossible to assess its relevance, usefulness and fit for purpose unless it is accessed to answer client questions and embedded in a career development process. Doing so transforms LMI from neutral to personal. It becomes tailored to an individuals’ employability needs so that it informs their career decision-making and helps them to move toward their preferred futures. We also defined the two main categories of LMI – formal and informal – and how each offers insights that contribute to informed decision-making.
