1: Introduction and Module Learning Objectives
In Module 1, we explored the eight forces shaping the labour market and saw how dynamic the world of work is. Navigating this complexity depends on information—what we observe, research, hear from others, and learn from labour market trends.
This module examines how we use information in daily decision-making and connects those habits to labour market information (LMI) in career decision-making. By understanding your own approach to gathering and using information, you’ll be better equipped to help clients do the same.
The learning objectives of this module are to:
- Compare everyday information gathering to the use of LMI in career decision-making
- Identify common barriers that clients face when researching careers or interpreting LMI
- Explain key principles of effective information gathering for career decision-making
