1: Introduction and Module Learning Objectives
Even if your toolkit of LMI resources is overflowing, engaging clients in making use of LMI and its insights can still be a challenge. Information can seem alienating or overwhelming to a client. Some clients may believe they are incapable of understanding it. Others may take a narrow view of LMI that restricts them to looking only a specific job title, limiting their opportunities.
In this module, we will focus on exercises to help you engage your clients in using LMI. We will focus on activities you can take into practice to support making use of this wealth of information in practical ways with clients.
The learning objectives of this module are to:
- Demonstrate how we can all find helpful information through the Researching a Purchase Exercise
- Explore the power of observation through the Penny Exercise
- Connect observations to labour market insights using the Everyday Objects Exercise
- Identify resources CDPs can use to organize and present LMI insights to peers and to clients
